A frustrated Lila trying to enjoy an antler indoors rather than out. In the yard it doesn’t slip around like on HW floors! In the middle of this, she finds her bark!
Slow-mo. She has a toy from her foster: hedgehog, that she loves. The following day she had grown inches in length and looked narrow and slender. Overnight!
18 inch snow. She looks like an otter.
She sheds. It’s astounding. In short order, this beautiful- thick- even a little longer-coat came in.
Jeopardy ‘think’ music. Interestingly when I play this vid back she does the same head tilts at the same time!
Play with Kyto. He’s 7 and physically larger. She loves playing with him and yet still respects age and size.
Her prey-drive is powerful! Four rabbits and one squirrel in one season. She does not dissect or eat, just kills, then drops and retraces her steps over and over. Vet calls her a ‘perimeter dog’; on constant surveillance of a breach.
Jeopardy! still is a trigger (as are the monthly weather siren tests) but now she talks and howls as though trying to come up with the answer.
First snowstorm of the season and it’s Feb. I had forgotten how much she loved the snow last year. I woke her to come out with me. She had a ball!
Hello? Is it possible? Can I be closer to you please?
She is not fond of walks on the sidewalk. She’d rather not, thanks. Get her to the lake or creek or park…my goodness this is a happy girl! Here she is “sit”, “wait” and “watch me” all while people, dogs and nature happens around her. Lamb's’ lung, please!!
She started classes within weeks of adoption. She loves learning. Here is “down” and “wait”. Now hand over the freeze dried lambs’ lung!
Baby. Eight weeks and a day or two. Day two in the family. Het eyes say it all: what’s happening, now?
She rarely moves about with her head up.
There’s always something, out there, that she’s sure she’s missing out on!
Playing! Those sweet eyes!
Baby, needle-sharp teeth!
She had just started RUNNING at me and JUMPING at me…! No no no no!
She’s going through a growth spurt that is pretty startling. She’s objecting to naps but when sent to the kennel she goes easily as though, relieved, then sleeps for 4 hours! In three days I enlarged her collar twice!
Pleading eyes with great distress over new winter wear including a snood. Eyes are a beautiful olive- greenish.
Sans snood. Still appalled.
Waiting impatiently for dinner
GOUGHNUT! Indestructible? I accept that challenge…
So, so cold! She’s wrapped in one of her pseudo-sherling blankie, and jacket over that to protect her hips and rear.
How do I get up on the roof?
First time on the couch. We continue to practice asking, behaving when invited.
Odd-ball 88 degree day in early April. She’s so big and still growing!
More couch-practicing. She’s so long that on her hind legs she’s almost too tall to look out at the neighborhood.
She’s a looker! No. Really. She’s looking through my yard to the next, in search of squirrels and other intruders. 10/5/23
November 26, ‘23. A dusting of snow. She’s on high alert for the possibility of perimeter breaches, ie: squirrels!
July 28, 2023. Recently invited onto the couch. The cat is torn. It took a year for her to understand he is not a peer nor is he a plaything.
Napping on the couch was a difficult concept to grasp — actually sleep in any manner is a difficult concept. FOMO?
Best friends, ever! Neighbor boy, Kyto. We love Kyto.
One year birthday pic. Similar pic 6-8 mos earlier. She grew into her ears.
Pork knuckle. Nothing better!
How dare? Lila’s nemesis, has the gall to look in the window! L was especially calm and intrigued.
Peace in the valley. They play and the cat might get annoyed, but space is shared.
First sizable snow this entire winter. At 11pm I shoveled. I woke her to join me. She had a ball!
Olive eyes have finally become brown.
Snuggling is not a comfortable experience and usually short-lived. Her energy level is always ‘up here’, so a snuggle is a minute or two.
Watchdog, even when she needs a snoozie.
She has been known to fall asleep, briefly, with her forehead against the window.
