Copper Toxicosis Genes
ATP7B is the "bad" copper gene mutation that can run in Labs, Golden Retrievers, Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, and other breed mixes.
ATP7A is the "good" copper gene mutation that helps copper metabolism and can decrease the effects of ATP7B. It' s x-linked, meaning only a dam with retriever lineage may pass this on. Male dogs may receive a "good" ATP7A, but they can't pass it on.
These are stand alone tests not included in Embark or other standard breed panels.
