3-3-19. Aleuna is 3 years old in this photo, and at full physical maturity. She is free stacking in this photo, which means she is standing squared without restraint. dogs are stacked when viewed for conformation or to feel for physical abnormalities. I found out about this technique when she was about a year old, and many photos are of her in this pose so to compare physical changes to her coat and structure.
3-12-16. Aleuna at 6 weeks old. I took this photo the day I met her after she had been purchased by her first owner. I have included photos of her during every month of her first year to show of her growth and color changes. I was fortunate enough to have had a good relationship with her first owner to get so many photos, and when they decided that she was too much to handle, I was able to take her as my own.
3-23-16. Aleuna in a public dog park, I was unaware of the dangers of taking such a young animal to a public place without proper vaccinations. I was lucky that she did not get sick because of our careless actions, and am thankful to know better now.
Dog claimed to be the Mom, called Saphira, and claimed to be Arctic and Timber wolf. Based off of the one photo I was given, this dog would be a low content wolf dog at best, displaying many dog like traits and not the more genetically dominant wolfy ones.
Dog claimed to be the Dad, named LJ, who is said to be Timber wolf. While this photo is hard to tell if there is any content, the facial structure and coat patterns would indicate that he is a low content at best, and not content that was claimed by the breeder.
5-18-16, while she does have some dark colored hair, the guard hairs have not yet come in yet when this photo was taken. she is all fluff
5-21-16 Gotcha Day. Aleuna came into my permanent possession after getting her from my then friend who had not house broken or crate trained her. Also while living in an apartment complex had failed to notify the landlord of a new dog. Aleuna, like most young and untrained puppies would destroy things, defecate everywhere, and cry until neighbors would complain. I had a challenge ahead of me.

6-9-16. The eyebrows are strong with this one.
7-8-16. Aleuna has always been great for car rides ever since she was a pup. Even on long car rides she will sleep.
8-19-16. between 6-7 months old, her coat color and texture drastically changed from a light tan to black guard hairs with a mostly gray undercoat. tan points are still able to be seen. Looking back this is very similar to how she looked at 6-8 weeks old.
9-10-16
10-9-16. At this point in time Aleunas husky tendencies of independence and prey drive came in full force. I used a gentle leader at this time to work on training her to walk nicely on a leash, however abandoned this training method after realizing that I was simply putting a band-aid on a training problem and not working on the underlying issues.

1-21-18 Furminator damage. After using this tool a few times, I realized that it was pulling out the guard hairs as well as the undercoat contrary to what was advertised. Please look at other photos from winter (2018 compared to 2019) to see how different her coat is after changing my grooming regime. Keep in mind that she is just shy of 2 years and should have her full adult winter coat at the time this photo was taken.

4-14-18. This photo is one of my favorite examples of how photo angles can be distorted to make dogs appear larger or more feral. Her almost menacing body position and eyes along with being unable to gauge her size from the photo can all be used to make her appear more "wolfy" than what she is. Many of her more recent photos picture her in a more relaxed and typical dog like position as a comparison on how manipulative a single, forced angle photo can be.
6-7-18. Although I had not yet Embarked her, I was beginning to suspect German Shepherd in her gene pool because, as you can see in the photo, she will often slightly roach her back. her tail is very low set, and she will often pace or move in a more fluid "slink" as many German Shepherds can. she could have just as easily been a poorly bred husky though at this point.
6-15-18
6-23-18. Aleuna's First AKC Lure Coursing Ability Test. A flag is run along the ground by wire pulley as the dogs are able to chase it in an enclosed area one at a time. Qualifying runs are judged by ability to complete the 600m zig zagging course under a set time limit without being distracted or defecating during the course. While any dog breed is able to compete, those with high prey drive motivated by visual movement excel at this event such as Greyhounds, whippets, and other "sight hounds".

11-3-18 the Cincinnati Skyline from Covington, Kentucky. the Netflix film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile was filmed here.
11-13-18 Aleuna was a very picky eater and would often go days without eating a full meal or just picking at her food. While this is not abnormal for huskies, and her weight was approved by the vet, I wanted her to eat more consistently and gain extra weight for when we would start conditioning for bikejoring. Pet Wants was a high quality, high fat and protein kibble that Aleuna enjoyed eating and has now gained a healthy 6 lbs to reach her weight goals for a highly active dog.
11-24-18. instagram.com/cameronr90 took some photos of us at an apple orchard, and this one captures her personality right on the nose. always playful and wanting to be interacted with.
12-13-18 conditioning for bikejoring season. We try to stay at a consistent trot in order to cover long distances and keep the dogs interested and excited about running (as you can see from her smile). All equipment used is specifically for mushing sports (bikejoring, canicross, and traditional sledding)
12-13-18. taking a break from running to let the dogs rest and drink some water. you can find Aleuna's mushing buddy Rio on instragram.com/spontaneouscanines

5-6-19. Muzzle training. I chose to muzzle train because aleuna does not like getting vaccinations while at the vet (or her nails dremeled), and for emergencies while hiking (injured animals are likely to bite no matter how trained they are). there are many helpful resources for muzzle training out there and by training my dog to be confortable and confident wearing a muzzle, everyone can stay safe around her even in those uncomfortable situations.
5-6-19. Aleuna wears a sixe 3X muzzle made by JAFCO and sold on leerburg.com. her snout measurements are 4" in length and 11" around. This muzzle size allows for her to pant and drink water while preventing biting and eating things off the ground. Basket muzzles (as opposed to fabric or strap muzzles which force a dogs moth closed) like this one are the safest for preventing biting while humanely allowing your dog to breathe and pant.
5-18-19. Hiking at Red River Gorge, Kentucky. Pictured is Copperas Falls.
5-27-19. RRG, KY. After seriously training for a year on out recall, Aleuna now is mostly off leash in the backcountry while hiking. We follow the laws of the area, and leash up when we hear others nearby to be courteous other humans and dogs we may encounter.
